Pierce Butler Prairie Restoration
Like many similar spaces around the cities, this green-space between two major streets has been a hub for weeds and invasive species for years. But on September 8, 2017, the property was burned, providing a clean slate for the native prairie to come.
However, to get to this step has been years of work.
The plants for the project have been chosen carefully to fit the soil and water conditions, as well as take into account the traffic that will be passing by. None could be too tall or too dense, and all are native to Minnesota prairies. Scroll through their pictures and get to know our new neighbors.
